Number (N)ine AW04 "Give Peace A Chance" Tribal Shirt
Created By Takahiro Miyashita in 1997, The Number (N)ine name itself is derived from “Revolution 9,” a Beatles song off their 1968 album, The White Album. Inspired by Americana and music, popular designers Jun Takahashi and Takahiro Miyashita found themselves much more entrenched and influenced by emerging youth culture, in comparison to that of their avant-garde counterparts, like Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo. Always inspired by popular rock artists, such as Axl Rose, Eddie Vedder, and Mick Jagger, Miyashita has constructed a series of simplified graphics utilized throughout his collections to convey a message that invites conversation.
