Yohji Yamamoto AW05 Wool Raw Hem Cropped Worker Jacket

“All I wanted was for women’s to wear men’s clothes - I wanted to protect the woman’s body from something - maybe’s men’s eyes or a cold wind.” With his powerful story telling, knack for critically acclaimed tailoring, and his sublimely altruistic spirit, Yohji Yamamoto has transformed over the decades into the beloved designer we know today. First earning a law degree in 1966 from Keio University, Yamamoto returned back home to work under his mother as a tailor, stating he did not want to join “normal society”. He then moved on to study at Bunka Fashion College, a university known for its notable alumni - Nigo, Jun Takahashi, Junya Watanabe, and Kenzo Takada. Since the 1980s, the brand’s dynasty has seen numerous compelling and passionate displays of Yamamoto’s narrative, through collections, runway shows, and campaigns that all exist in the same lofty, yet romantically dark, vein.
